Are you designing for the iPad?

A must read article: iA » Designing for iPad: Reality Check from Information Architects, for anyone who is thinking about designing for the iPad.

Leather buttons, stitches and torn paper edges, multi-screen-multi-column-pseudo-newspaper-layouts… on the screen it is just kitsch. Kitsch, as in: it tries to be something that it is not—and miserably fails at the attempt: Paper doesn’t wear down in the digital dimension. There are no leather buttons in the real world. Meaningless stitches in the UI distract the eye from the information.
